Allowing employees to work at home
is a great incentive program.

The unemployment rate has been at or less than 5% for as long as I can remember under the current Administration. That may be great for making sure that anyone who really wants to work can work, but it spells n-i-g-h-t-m-a-r-e for many employers who have trouble finding and retaining good employees in such a highly competitive market. Employees know they can leave their jobs anytime they want to and find another job.
One employer recently told me how an employee tried to blackmail him into giving him a huge raise knowing he’d be difficult to replace. Another employer explained how one of his employees actually put himself out to bid between his current employer and a competitor!
In times like that employers need every advantage they can get. In competitive marketplaces such common incentives like benefits and pay can be very similar from employer to employer and letting your employees dress up like they’re on a Hawaiian vacation can only take you so far.
Want a POWERFUL advantage over competing employers? Let your people work at home!
Allowing employees to work at home not only unlocks up to 26% more productivity in good employees, but it will also make your job opportunity irreplaceable and make you an INSTANT employer of choice.
People LOVE to work at home and if you offer that freedom and your competing employers do not, you’ve got a huge advantage.
You will enjoy:
- A substantial recruiting advantage
- Being able to add a very attractive benefit to your employees with little or not additional cost (compare that to medical insurance!)
- Being able to attract better candidates
- Increased productivity in the right employees (nonproductive employees are likely to become even more nonproductive at home while productive employees are likely to become even more productive at home).
- Higher retention
- Less Turnover
If that’s not enough, allowing your employees to telecommute or work at home is also substantially less expensive than providing them in a brick-and-mortar workspace and may offer many legal and tax benefits!
Obviously, not all jobs are suitable for telecommuting, but many are.
So for relief from an optimal labor market and a HUGE labor bang without a lot of buck, check into allowing your employees to telecommute!
