Work at home ads on the internet promise ways of making thousands of dollars with hardly any work, effort or risk, but I have only found a couple of methods of reliably making money on the internet. Of those few methods my favorite has to be making and marketing your own website. Like it or not, the people who are offering work at home solutions are the ones making the money because they are the website owners. Unless they ACT effectively on the information they purchased, it isn't the people who pay to buy the 'amazing' e-book, or the people who sign up to receive the email who make the money: It's the website owners who sell the e-book and who collect the list of customers that make the money.
Why can’t YOU be the one getting paid a lot of money to work at home with your own website?
The internet is the new marketplace of the world and it is very different to the real world in many regards, but one thing remains the same: If you buy what someone is selling you, you are making them money, not you. If you view your purchase as an investment and use it to learn how to make your own money, that’s wonderful, but just buying that e-book or information kit alone won’t help you unless you act on it. If you want to make money, then you need to start your own business.
Luckily, unlike the real world, starting your own business on the internet can be virtually free. Never in history has it been so possible to turn almost nothing into a huge amount of money. An internet business really comes down to having your own website; and getting your own website these days is as easy as going to blogger or Wordpress and starting a blog with them. For more control you might want to register your own domain and/or hosting, but even if you choose to outlay that expense (a whopping $20 a month or so depending on the hosting) the fact remains:

So if you don't have your own website yet, get one. Find a topic you are interested in, and start a website (or Blog) on it. How you will make an income from it isn't important in the beginning, what is important is that you start something that will bring in traffic. Understand that traffic equals money. If you don't want to just take my word on that, consider Google. Most people still don't know how they make money, but boy do they make a lot of it, and boy do they get a lot of traffic! So once we have a website on the topic of your choice, and once you have started adding content to it (writing articles to your blog, producing link directories, reporting your point of view on news topics, or advising people how to use things – whatever), you can start worrying about getting traffic. The rest of this article is dedicated to just that.
Once you have your website you can create revenue in a number of ways, possibly even in ways that haven’t been invented yet.
- You can sell advertising on your website.
- You can sell your product or service on your website.
- You can sell others products or services on your website, you can even sell links!
- You can create leads for other businesses and sell those.
- You can use the traffic at your site to promote other services, such as books at Amazon.com or affiliate programs that will pay you for sales.
Website construction and website marketing can be a lot of work with no obvious returns while you are doing the work. It can be difficult, frustrating and very trying. But how is that different from any other real business out there? What makes website marketing the best possible work at home business in my opinion is the fact that you are only risking your time. The costs of entry are virtually nothing, the knowledge required can be quite minimal, and learning more is possible through self education online, or paying a small amount for a short course at a local community college. Unlike a real world business where you usually have to outlay hundreds of thousands of dollars in many cases, internet marketing can be started with tens of dollars in the evenings after work. And once you have made your site, and started promoting it, the hard work is mostly done! You don't have to keep serving customers or working to produce your products. You can virtually walk away from it, or start producing a second and third website and grow your business.
And if you are still unsure, just consider: You could have made Youtube, if only you had thought of it first and taken the time to implement it. $1.65 BILLION made overnight, and all that just from a simple idea and a lot of time and effort. Consider MySpace, del.icio.us, Digg, even Google: they are all just good ideas which were implemented well. Anyone can do it, and the key is to just get into it and start learning the tricks of the trade. Your website could be anything from a few hundred dollars extra income per month, or it could be a multi billion dollar idea. Just keep working the ideas until you find the one which achieves your goals.
