Working at home has its privileges. For one thing you can turn boredom into anything you want.
Here are five fun ways to share special times with your family, banish the boredom and create love and memories that will last a lifetime.
1. Go Outdoors. Even in the most extreme climates, if you work at home you can take a 5 10 minute walk outdoors. Fresh air can drastically improve your perspective and that of your baby’s! No fancy equipment is necessary (although stroller rides can be great exercise) most babies delight in just looking around at their environment.
2. Turn the Ordinary into Fascinating. Dig out some pots and pans and let your baby or toddler explore. The texture and (sigh) acoustics are bound to hold your little one’s interest. Let them experiment and bang away!
3. Introduce a Song and Dance Routine. You can turn any activity into a musical show. The best part about singing (and dancing) with your baby is the low level of criticism! Make it silly, rhymes are optional, and be sure to add lots of jumping about and arm wailing to get a giggle from your audience!
4. Add Some Color. As adults, we forget how much fun it can be to scribble in a coloring book, or even to dabble in some finger-paint. Your child will love you for letting them make a little mess, and for getting into it with them.
5. Dress Up. Try on costumes, scarves, (try building an indoor snowman out of winter attire) hats of all shapes and sizes, and Mom or Dad’s shoes just to name a few. Parade around in a fashion show, complete with paparazzi (that’s you and your camera)!
Take pictures of these precious moments together so that you and your children can enjoy the benefits of these work at home moments throughout your lifetime.
